Why Group Counseling Might Be Right for YOU

Group Counseling offers a unique approach for growth and healing through shared experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Come together with other individuals facing similar circumstances where you can find guidance together, explore challenges, build connections, and gain new perspectives.

Frequently Asked Questions About Group Therapy

Everything you need to know about joining a therapy group at B Well Counseling Center.
What is group therapy?
Group therapy is a guided therapy format where participants learn skills, build insight, and feel supported alongside others who are working through similar challenges. Groups are structured and clinician-led, which means there’s a clear focus, shared goals, and a supportive environment that balances education, practice, and discussion.
How is group therapy different from a support group?
Group therapy is led by a licensed clinician and is designed around therapeutic goals, evidence-based tools, and a consistent structure. Support groups are often peer-led and can be more open-ended. Both can be helpful, but group therapy tends to be more skills-focused and clinically guided.
Who is group therapy best for?
Group therapy can be a great fit for people who want practical skills, connection, and accountability. Groups can support anxiety, stress, confidence, social skills, parenting challenges, identity support, life transitions, and relationship patterns. It’s also a strong option for people who feel stuck in the same cycles and want a supportive place to practice new ways of coping and communicating.
Why choose B Well Counseling Center?
B Well Counseling Center is made up of highly skilled clinicians across a wide range of specialties so you are always in good hands no matter what brings you to therapy. Our genuine desire is to understand and acknowledge that all emotions are information. Once the cause of the emotion is uncovered, healing can begin.  We are here to listen and guide you with respect and dignity to embody your optimal emotional health and be well. We are honored to join you on your journey to wholeness.

Group therapy is often a lower-cost, lower-barrier entry point to quality mental health care. It can be a great option if you want structured support, professional guidance, and real tools, but you’re not ready for weekly individual therapy or you want a more budget-friendly format.
I’m interested, but I feel nervous. Is that normal?
Very normal. Most people feel hesitant before their first group, even if they’re confident in other parts of life. The most common fears are “What if I don’t fit in?” “What if I get emotional?” or “What if it’s awkward?” A well-run therapy group is designed to feel safe, paced, and respectful. You won’t be forced to share more than you’re ready to share, and the therapist helps create a structure that reduces awkwardness and supports real connection.
Can I do individual therapy and group therapy at the same time?
Yes. Many people find the combination especially effective: individual therapy offers depth and personalized support, while group therapy offers practice, accountability, and connection. They work well together and often speed up progress because you’re reinforcing skills in more than one setting.

Group therapy also pairs well with our Preteen & Teen Therapy, Family therapy, or Parenting Coaching services as well!
Do groups always meet in person or are there some available online?
Yes. Some groups are offered solely online, including:
Parents, caregivers, and allies of trans/nonbinary children (Available anywhere in Texas)
SPACE parent therapy group (Open to anyone from a PSYPact State)

Groups change over time, and we may add more online offerings in the future.
