New to Therapy? This is how it works

At B Well Counseling Center, we want you to know that you are in control of how you approach your journey.

To begin, we invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation with one of our therapists.

During the free 15-minute consult, you will learn more about the therapist's counseling style, find answers to any questions you may have, and see if a connection can be established. If you decide the therapist is a good fit for your needs, you may move forward with scheduling your first Individual Therapy session. Sessions can be scheduled based on your needs and availability and can be stopped, paused, or adjusted at any time.

During your session, you are in charge of what you talk about and we will always respect how you process emotions.

Not a good fit? No problem!

There is no obligation to schedule if you do not feel the therapist is a good fit.
We will be happy to provide you with referrals.

Frequently Asked Questions About Online  Therapy

Everything you need to know about beginning virtual therapy at B Well Counseling Center in Houston.
How does virtual therapy work?
Virtual therapy takes place through secure video sessions. You can join from home or any private location with a stable internet connection. Sessions look a lot like in-person therapy: you’ll talk through what’s bringing you in, set goals, and work on practical tools and deeper patterns over time.
Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
For many concerns, yes. Virtual therapy can be highly effective, especially for individual therapy, anxiety, stress, and life transitions. It also improves access and consistency, which matters a lot for progress. That said, we believe that in-person therapy is often the better fit for children, couples, and families, since it’s easier to read nonverbal cues, reduce interruptions, and support multiple people in the room. Virtual care can still be a strong option when needed and can work even better when paired with in-person sessions when possible.
Who is a good fit for telehealth therapy?
Telehealth can be a great fit if you have a busy schedule, transportation barriers, health concerns, anxiety about coming in person, or if you live outside the Houston area. It’s also a good option if you travel often or need more flexible scheduling to stay consistent.
What do I need for virtual therapy?
You’ll need a private space, a device with a camera and microphone, and a reliable internet connection. If possible, use a laptop or desktop for a larger screen and a more stable setup. Headphones can help with privacy and reduce distractions.

Choose a space where you can speak freely, reduce interruptions as much as possible, and try to position your camera at eye level with comfortable lighting. If privacy is a challenge, headphones and a steady source of background noise outside the room (like a fan) can help. It’s also a good idea to close other apps, silence notifications, and treat the session like you would an in-person appointment by arriving a few minutes early and settling in.
Do you offer any online groups?
Yes. Some groups are offered solely online, including:
Parents, caregivers, and allies of trans/nonbinary children (Available anywhere in Texas)SPACE parent therapy group (Open to anyone from a PSYPact State)

Check out our group therapy page for future offerings.
