At B Well Counseling Center, we work with children, teens, parents, adults, couples, and families throughout Houston, with a particular passion for supporting kids and adolescents.
Our Houston therapy office is conveniently located for families in West University, River Oaks, Bellaire, Upper Kirby, and surrounding Central Houston neighborhoods.
Maybe your child’s behavior has changed and you aren’t quite sure why. Your teen is overwhelmed by friendships, school, anxiety, identity, or the pressure to keep up. You’re questioning whether your child could benefit from an ADHD or Autism evaluation. Or maybe as the parent, you’re the one who needs support, because knowing how to help your child is often the hardest part.
Whether you’re looking for one-on-one therapy, play therapy, psychological testing, parenting support, or a place where your child or teen can connect with peers, our team can help you determine what kind of support makes the most sense.
Children don’t always walk into a therapy office ready to explain what is bothering them. Sometimes their emotions show up through tantrums, worries, stomachaches, trouble sleeping, withdrawal, changes at school, friendship difficulties, perfectionism, or behavior that seems to come out of nowhere.
That is one reason working with children is such an important part of what we do at B Well.
Our Houston child therapists understand child development and know that conversation is only one way to communicate. Depending on your child’s age, personality, and needs, therapy may incorporate play, creative activities, sand tray, skill-building, or other developmentally appropriate approaches.
Depending on your child’s needs, your therapist may incorporate parent consultation, parenting coaching, or Child-Parent Relationship Therapy to help bring what is happening in the therapy room into everyday family life.
Learn about Child & Play TherapyFor younger children, play can provide a language for experiences they may not yet know how to put into words.
Through Child-Centered Play Therapy, children are given space to explore feelings, experiences, relationships, and challenges in a way that feels more natural to them. Rather than expecting a young child to sit across from a therapist and explain exactly what is wrong, play therapy meets children at their developmental level.
Our therapists may support children experiencing concerns such as:
Teen therapy deserves more than an adult therapy model adjusted for someone younger.
Adolescence brings its own set of challenges. Academic expectations get heavier. Friendships become more complicated. Social media makes comparison nearly impossible to escape. Teens are figuring out who they are while simultaneously navigating relationships, family expectations, independence, body changes, sexuality, gender, college decisions, and what can seem like a hundred other pressures at once.
At B Well, we genuinely enjoy working with teens and preteens.
Our Houston teen therapists know how important it is to build a relationship based on trust and respect rather than making a teenager feel like they have been sent to another adult who is going to tell them what they are doing wrong.
Therapy can give teens space to talk openly, understand what their emotions are communicating, develop coping and communication skills, and begin figuring out what works for them.

We also work collaboratively with parents while respecting the privacy teens need to develop a meaningful relationship with their therapist.
For children and teenagers, mental health and school life are often closely connected.
We support students and families throughout the Houston area, including families connected with Houston ISD as well as private and independent school communities throughout West University, River Oaks, Bellaire, Upper Kirby, and nearby neighborhoods.
School stress can show up in many different ways. A child may suddenly resist going to school. A high-achieving teen may appear successful while privately struggling with anxiety or perfectionism. ADHD may become more noticeable as academic responsibilities increase. Social difficulties may make lunch, extracurricular activities, or group projects feel overwhelming.
Other families come to us because a teacher, pediatrician, school counselor, or parent has begun wondering whether something deeper could be contributing to a child’s experience. Our clinicians can help families look beyond the behavior itself and better understand what may be happening underneath it.
Sometimes therapy is the right next step. Other times, a family needs more information first.
An evaluation is about much more than arriving at a diagnosis. The goal is to develop a clearer picture of your child’s individual strengths and challenges and provide recommendations that can be useful at home, in therapy, and at school.
For families who have spent months or even years wondering, What are we missing?, having more information can make it much easier to determine what comes next.
Because psychological testing is a specialized service that typically does not require the same weekly commute as ongoing therapy, families often travel from farther across the Greater Houston area to work with our assessment team.
We welcome families from Houston ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Alvin ISD, Spring ISD, Conroe ISD, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, and other school communities within roughly an hour of our Houston office.
Our psychoeducational and psychological testing services can help evaluate concerns including:
Sometimes the fastest way to create change for a child is to start with the adults who spend the most time with them.
A therapist may see your child for an hour each week, but you are there for the mornings before school, the homework battles, the sibling conflicts, the bedtime struggles, and all the small moments in between. Parent coaching helps you understand what may be driving your child’s behavior and gives you practical strategies you can begin using right away.
Because those strategies are practiced in real-life situations, changes can extend far beyond the therapy office. Over time, more consistent responses from parents can help children feel safer, communicate more effectively, regulate emotions, and understand what to expect at home.
Parent coaching can be used on its own or alongside your child or teen’s therapy. In some cases, working with parents can create meaningful changes even when a child is not participating in therapy directly.

Individual therapy can be incredibly valuable, but sometimes there is something different about sitting with people your age and realizing, Oh. You deal with this too.
That is why groups are such a significant part of B Well Counseling Center.
We offer ongoing and rotating therapy and support groups for children, teens, young adults, parents, and caregivers, giving clients opportunities to practice skills, talk about shared experiences, and develop meaningful connections in a clinician-guided environment. For some children and teens, a group is a great complement to individual therapy. For others, it may be their first introduction to mental health support.
Our Houston groups have included options such as:
Group offerings change throughout the year, so families are encouraged to check our current groups or contact us to find out what is currently enrolling.
One of the benefits of choosing a group practice is that your family’s needs do not have to fit neatly into one category.
A child might begin with play therapy while a parent receives coaching. A psychological assessment may help a family better understand challenges they have been seeing at home and at school. A teenager receiving individual counseling may also benefit from connecting with peers in one of our groups. And sometimes it is the adults who need their own support.
In addition to our work with children and adolescents, B Well Counseling Center provides mental health therapy for adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, life transitions, parenting, and other challenges. We can help you determine where to begin.
