Kristen (she/her) is a licensed professional counselor dedicated to creating a safe, affirming, and judgment-free space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered in their healing. With specialized training in trauma recovery, sexual abuse, neurodivergence, and sexual and gender expression, she works from a humanistic perspective, offering unconditional positive regard and compassion to every client.
Kristen has experience supporting gender-diverse (trans and nonbinary) adolescents (14+) and adults, as well as people of all ages facing challenges like anxiety, depression, grief, OCD, PTSD, psychosis, and bipolar disorder. She is also certified in EMDR, a research-supported treatment for trauma.
Group therapy has been one of Kristen’s passions since 2013, and her commitment to service extends through years of volunteering with organizations such as Mental Health America of Houston, PFLAG, Gender Infinity, and the Portland Trauma Response Network. She is also an educator and presenter on topics including gender, perinatal mental health, and creating safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth, and she offers a free biannual telehealth workshop for parents and caregivers of trans and nonbinary youth.
As her career has grown, Kristen has found deep fulfillment in walking alongside clients through even the most complex struggles, including psychosis, personality disorders, and complex PTSD. She brings warmth, openness, and respect to every therapeutic relationship.
Before becoming a counselor, Kristen spent 12 years in the financial industry, an experience that continues to enrich her perspective and work with clients. She holds degrees from the University of Chicago and the University of Houston–Clear Lake and is licensed in Texas (#65110) and Oregon (#C8521). She is a member of the American Counseling Association, SAIGE (Society for Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities), PFLAG, WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health, and EMDRIA (EMDR International Association).
Kristen provides affirming care for LGBTQ+ adults and their families and does not practice or support conversion therapy, which has been shown to be harmful and is not supported by scientific evidence.
